Reported by Beijing Times, BYD said yesterday that it has decided to sell its F3DM electric car to individual customers from September on. Before September, the F3DM sedan is sold to corporate customers only.

BYD S8 is China’s first sedan that uses hard-top convertible technology and at present,  S8 is on mass production. Recently, Xinhua Auto got the latest S8 photo, glad to share with all BYD fans.

As a new champion of micro car market, BYD is always aspiring, recently, they will launch F0 Fashion IGO version, priced between 36, 900RMB and 53, 900RMB (1USD = 6.8RMB). Sources reported that F0 Fashion igo has 4 versions, utility, comfortable, dignity and flagship version, the new car will have a big upgrade in configuration, security, and quality.

BYD, the Chinese company that makes 65% of the world’s nickel-cadmium batteries and 30% of the world’s lithium-ion mobile phone batteries, has ambitious plans for hybrid and electric automobiles.

According to the official site, BYD is targeting 2011 to get the F3DM into the United States. Now, BYD is working hard on building its cars to suit American drivers’ tastes. “BYD’s information technology division has been in business in the U.S. for 10 years. We understand Americans’ concerns about safety and quality. So in designing this car for the U.S. market, we will certainly meet these requirements,” BYD’s principal says. For now, BYD will focus on China’s domestic market. Priced at about $22,000 each, the cars are a bit pricey for average consumers, so BYD will first aim at government and corporate buyers.
