JAC A00 mini car to show off at Shanghai auto show

Recently, Chinese automaker JAC unveiled its mini car JAC A00, from the sketch design, we can hardly find any similarities with Citoren C1, as spy photos showed before. However, its huge headlights are more like Chery NN, while the taillights are similar with the unveiled JAV BMPV.

Sources reported that this JAC mini car will debut on the coming Shanghai auto show. Anyway, we are expected. One question, JAC A00, BYD F0 and Geely Panda, which one you preferred?

Chery is entering the 4-brand times

As the flagship of all Chinese automakers, Chery have passed its 11th year, and Chery cars had become the first choice of many Chinese people. But to our regret, Chery do not have any high-end brands before. Status changes from March 19th, Chery’s high-end brand Riich come up to our eyes, the Chery high-end sedans and commercial cars will be produced using Riich brand, since then, Chery is by no dulbt entering the 4 brand times: Chery, Riich, Rely and Karry brand.

Chinese automaker may be the buyer of last resort for Ford Volvo

Ford Motor needs money and is almost certainly willing to sell Volvo to add cash to its balance sheet. A Chinese car company may be willing to oblige. According to The Times, “Geely Automotive, a Chinese car manufacturer, has appointed NM Rothschild to advise on a possible bid for loss-making Volvo.”

China is one of the few places with potential buyers of Western auto company assets. The central government can make capital available since China has built up a tremendous balance sheet of its own after having years of trade surpluses.

Because of the wealth of the Chinese government, it can afford to play a long-term game that other governments or private enterprises cannot. It may be willing to wait out the revival of the car markets in the US, UK, and EU and be one of the few that has enough capacity and capital to quickly meet the demand of an improving economic environment. Even if it takes two or three years, China has the time and the money.

Government push automakers to buy overseas rivals?

Chinese automakers has been warned by government many times to acquire assets from struggling overseas rivals, Shanghai Securities News reported on Monday.

“Chinese automakers are not strong enough to participate in cooperation with big global players, ” said Chen Bin, head of the industry co-ordination department of the National Development and Reform Commission of China.
The report added that Chinese automakers Geely, Changan, and Chery have been approached by many overseas rivals in recent months.

Chery said last month it would not rule out the possibility of buying a troubled European auto brand, while Changan and Dongfeng are expected to place indicative bids for Volvo Cars in April, according to Reuters.

Chery plans to produce passenger vehicles in Belarus

Chery Automobile Co and Belarus’ MAZ will prepare a business plan to produce passenger vehicles in Belarus this April, reported Prime-Tass, quoting Sergei Varivoda, the chairman of the Council of Distributors of Chinese cars in Minsk, as saying on Thursday.

“Talks are taking place at government’s level. Taking part in the negotiations was Belarus’ First Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko, representatives with the Industry Ministry and top management of MAZ and Chery Automobile,” said Varivoda.

“They were satisfied with the preliminary results and agreed to prepare a business plan by April,” Varivoda told the news agency. No production volumes or sales have been decided.

He believes that there would be a huge demand for locally built Chinese cars in Belarus, referring to a questionnaire survey which showed that the number of Belarusians willing to buy Belarus-built Chinese vehicles is 18 times as big as the number of those in favor of imported ones.

Chery QQme? Yes, Chery S16′s official name

Recently, Chery Automobile Sales Company announced that Chery S16 was identified as “QQme”. This name, which sounds smart and fashionable, was from thousands of recommendations of Chery employees, QQ drivers and vendors.

QQme pronounced “QQ mi” (QQ fans) and can be interpreted as “my QQ”, it represents the interaction between S16 and consumers.

Chery QQme was designed by Enrico Fumia, the chief designer of Lancia, Alfa Romeo and Ferrari F90.

Red Flag SUV was totally designed by Red Flag itself and evoked strong repercussion by its first show off on 08′ Beijing Auto Show.

Though Red Flag SUV encountered some frustrations after its birth, Red Flag was never stop its steps to optimize and reconstruct the marketing network and redefined the new product. It’s reported that Red Flag SUV will come to production in 2010 and release by the year end.

BYD to heads to U.S. in 2011

BYD, the Chinese company that makes 65% of the world’s nickel-cadmium batteries and 30% of the world’s lithium-ion mobile phone batteries, has ambitious plans for hybrid and electric automobiles.

According to the official site, BYD is targeting 2011 to get the F3DM into the United States. Now, BYD is working hard on building its cars to suit American drivers’ tastes. “BYD’s information technology division has been in business in the U.S. for 10 years. We understand Americans’ concerns about safety and quality. So in designing this car for the U.S. market, we will certainly meet these requirements,” BYD’s principal says. For now, BYD will focus on China’s domestic market. Priced at about $22,000 each, the cars are a bit pricey for average consumers, so BYD will first aim at government and corporate buyers.

2010 Honda Insight to launch in China? When?

Today, Honda launch its hybrid vehicle, 2010 Honda Insight, the strongest competitor of Toyota Prius. Based on the Honda J-VX concept car unveiled at the 1997 Tokyo Motor Show, the Insight was introduced in 1999 and was the first production vehicle to feature Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist system. Insight has less advantage than Toyota Prius in fuel enconomy, but due to its lower price and higher cost-performance, 2010 Insight to launch in China is something that sooner or later.
