Recently, a set of spy photos of a new SUV from SAIC Motor has surfaced online. Judging by the design details, this vehicle appears to be an early test version of the upcoming Shangjie H5. According to earlier reports, the Shangjie H5 is expected to debut in September and hit the market in the fall. It will be available in both extended-range and fully electric versions and is set to feature the Huawei ADS 4 intelligent driving system.
From the interior spy shots, the new vehicle shows a layout reminiscent of the HarmonyOS smart cockpit, including a floating central touchscreen, a dual-spoke steering wheel, and a digital instrument cluster—somewhat similar to the AITO M7. However, unlike existing models under the Harmony Intelligent Mobility brand, this SUV retains physical buttons on the center console and appears to include a rotary gear selector next to a single wireless charging pad.
In terms of exterior design, the Shangjie H5 sports a closed-off front grille flanked by slim, upward-swept headlights for strong visual identity. The lower section of the front fascia features a large air intake and L-shaped side vents, enhancing its sporty appeal.
The SUV measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,657 (or 1,664) mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,840 mm. At the rear, the vehicle is equipped with a full-width taillight setup, a prominent roof spoiler, and chrome accents, adding to its layered and dynamic appearance.
In terms of powertrain, the Shangjie H5 will offer both an extended-range version and a pure electric version. The range-extended model is powered by a 1.5L engine (model 15FMC) from SAIC Motor, generating a maximum output of 72 kW. It boasts a CLTC combined range of over 1,300 km. The pure electric variant will come in two versions with peak motor outputs of 150 kW and 180 kW respectively, delivering a maximum CLTC pure electric range of up to 655 km.
